VertigoXmedia Enhances Xpresenter Digital Signage Platform Optimizes digital signage and presentation workflows with new features (May 25, 2005)

VertigoXmedia, a leading provider of broadcast graphics software and hardware, announced a new set of features today for the Xpresenter digital signage platform. Designed to make the popular PowerPoint-based system even easier to use and customize, the latest upgrades to Xpresenter include a new style gallery of graphics templates, custom control panels, video clip previewing, and tools for quickly resizing presentations to fit the varying dimensions of output displays and broadcast monitors. Vertigo has also enhanced the remote management tools that allow operators to schedule presentations remotely from their central facility.

"Xpresenter is a powerful toolset for bringing broadcast-quality graphics into the corporate and retail presentation and digital signage markets," said David Wilkins, VeritgoXmedia president and CEO. "From the outset, we designed the system to be easy to use, even by those who are not familiar with broadcast systems. This latest set of improvements underscores our commitment to this goal by further streamlining the graphics production workflow. Now more than ever, we can help produce presentations that are both painless to create and compelling to watch."

Xpresenter is an affordable, easy-to-use system that allows PowerPoint users to produce broadcast-quality graphics that incorporate animations, clip art galleries, video clips, and real-time data sources -- all without ever leaving the PowerPoint interface. With the introduction of Xpresenter's new style gallery, operators can easily create custom libraries of PowerPoint WordArt to streamline the process of creating CG-quality text. The style gallery also lets the user create templates of graphics that can be dragged and dropped directly onto the PowerPoint slide. The graphic styles can then be re-used with a simple click of the mouse to enhance live presentations, digital signage displays, hospitality channel programming, and much more.

A key addition to the Xpresenter toolset is a customizable control panel that allows a facility to link any script to a button on the Xpresenter interface. This powerful capability can further streamline the production workflow by incorporating control over various hardware devices, such as a VTR deck in the studio, or by tailoring specific functions within Xpresenter to match the facility's individual needs and preferences. New clip preview windows allow users to preview clips from within dialog boxes, and review material before inserting it into the presentation.

Now, once a presentation is complete, users can tailor the output of their presentation to match the characteristics of the intended display. This includes the ability to rotate the output from a vertical to horizontal orientation, as well as the ability to resize the aspect ratio for correct viewing on 4:3 and 16:9 screens.

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
