Weekly Download: Photoshop Brushes, Series 15

Download and installation
This week's brush collection is compressed using Stuffit from Aladdin Systems. The Stuffit Expander is a free utility for Macintosh, Linux, Windows and Solaris that can be downloaded here. Chances are you already have it on your system. If not, download and install it. You can also configure your browser to decompress files of the ".sit" type automatically using Expander.

Download: Nagel Series 15 Brushes for Photoshop CS Only (880 KB)[an error occurred while processing this directive]Once you download the brush file (NagelSeries15.sit), double-click the file to decompress it, or drag it over the Stuffit Expander application icon. After the file is decompressed (NagelSeries15.abr), move it into the Brushes directory in your Photoshop folder (/Adobe Photoshop CS/Presets/Brushes).

Then launch Photoshop. Open your Brushes palette, and click on the flyaway menu at the top right. There you'll find the new brush collection, which you can install simply by selecting it. After you select it, the new brushes will appear at the bottom of the list of available brushes.

Note on usage: Each of these brushes has a different behavior and will produce varying effects based on how you apply the brush. If you have a Wacom tablet, you can apply light pressure to the brushes to get a subtle texture effect. The brushes are colorized, so you'll never lose the textures entirely, but applying a brush repeatedly over the same area will obscure some of the texture. If you wish to use these brushes to create distress effects on photographs or other images, select your brush and then change the apply mode in the top Tool Options bar to something like Overlay, Soft Light, Multiply or other types of blends.
