Weekly Download: Papers for Corel Painter, Series 1

Download and installation
These papers were created and designed for Corel Painter 8 on Mac OS X, though they should work on the Windows version as well. (They almost certainly will not work with earlier versions of Painter.) After you download the "NagelSeries1Papers.sit" file, decompress it using Stuffit Expander. If you don't already have Stuffit Expander, you can download it free from http://www.aladdinsys.com/downloads/index.html.

Download: Nagel Series 1 Papers (236 KB)[an error occurred while processing this directive]The unstuffed file will be called "NagelSeries1Papers." It can be placed anywhere on your hard drive, though Corel stores its paper files inside the main application folder.

To load these paper textures, open up the Paper palette in Painter. Choose the flyaway menu on the top right, and then sleect "Open Library" from the list of options.

Locate the file "NagelSeries1Papers." Once you've chosen it, the new papers will be available for your use.

To use a paper with a brush, select a brush type that offers Grain as a parameter. Adjust the Grain percentage value to strengthen or lessen the texture effect on the brush. Typically you'll want something around 12 percent.

You can also adjust various paper parameters on the fly, such as detail size, brightness and contrast using the controls provides in the Paper palette. Please feel free to drop me a line at the address below if you have any difficulties with these. Or visit me in our new Corel Painter forum. And remember, you can find all of our previous downloads for Studio Artist, Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, Expression and other applications here.
